A droplet that has you questioning your place, your purpose. A droplet that can help plant the seed of resistance. A droplet that can draw you away from your destiny.
How many droplets of doubt have you experienced? How many times have you lacked clarity long enough for doubt to creep in? How many times have you thought you weren't good enough, beautiful enough, strong enough to deserve what God has for you. You stand there, looking at yourself in the mirror and wondering what God sees in you. What on earth could you offer to the one who commands the heavens and the earth? The one who calms the storm and raises the sun.
If we stand there long enough our vision clouds and our mind fills with confusion, past hurts and disappointments. We risk stepping away from the mirror with sunken hearts, a mind questioning our purpose and capabilities while our dreams and visions slip from our hands.
That woman who could, becomes the woman who cannot. The woman who lights up a room, finds herself in the shadows. The woman who is passionate about a cause, can no longer commit.
It only takes one droplet of doubt to plant a seed that can take us from the highest of heights, the biggest of dreams to an earth shattering standstill.
I have stood in front of that mirror many times. I stand and I see myself as so unworthy to receive, to give, to have. Yet, the same God who created the heavens, created me and he created you.
In the eyes of Jesus, we are beautiful, treasured and of great worth. In Jeremiah 31:3, we are told that God loves us with an everlasting love. Not for a month, a year or a decade but a longer than lifetime love. That love is available to us at any time. We don't have to be anyone else to receive it, we just have to be us. Uniquely us...just as he created.
When we accept that love and let it reach the deepest part of our hearts, we are able to accept the magnitude of his sacrifice. That everlasting love gives us peace and hope when the world spins out of control. He gives us security, comfort and the rock on which to cling to when the waves are higher than we are and we are at risk of sinking.
He loves you. He doesn't care what colour your hair is, what the scales say or what anyone else says about you. You are presented holy and blameless in his sight (Ephesians 1:4) as children of God. He adopted us when others would reject. He paid the ultimate price so that all that we are not, can become all that we are.
With God, we are made whole. The lack becomes more, the weak becomes strong, the lost are found. With God, we have all that we need. The next time you stand in front of the mirror and look into the eyes of a woman who has felt that first droplet of doubt fall on her face, wipe it away with the grace, mercy and love that comes from Christ. Instead, stand there and remind yourself that God created you. He loves you and no matter what this world throws at you, your God is bigger and stronger.
Step confidently into your identity and destiny in Christ. Step into all that he promises you. There will be no storm that He cannot calm. There will be no mountain you cannot climb. There will be no day that you cannot rejoice in, for you do not walk alone, God walks beside you.
Let that one droplet be a realisation that our amazing, powerful, merciful, grace giving God loves you with an everlasting love and and you are his daughter. Precious, treasured, loved.
